Where Is Your God?
A Sunday Thought
It’s Sunday. So I have a question.
Where is your God?
Is your God in a building with a steeple? In a room filled with song and prayer?
Is your God in a book of stories, of lessons, of lore? Maybe in the words of someone who studied hard, to show you the way?
Maybe… your God is in the trees.
The whisper of the wind.
In the stream that carries away your weakness with a promise of renewal.
Do you hear God in the rustle of leaves?
In the hush of snow as it drifts to the ground?
In the tinkle of rain on the eaves?
Do you find God in your father’s voice?
In your mother’s embrace?
In your lover’s kiss?
In the trusting eyes of a child?
Does your God walk at the end of a leash with a loyalty so fierce that “ride or die” sounds like a joke to a soul that wouldn't think twice to give its life for you?
What about a single grain of sand?
A blade of grass lit by golden light?
A hollow in a tree, dark and deep, a place you're scared to go?
Is your God in there?
